Types and causes of hearing loss

2020-09-04

One of the effects of hearing loss is the reduction in the ability to distinguish between speech and noise, especially the ability to listen to high-frequency sounds may completely disappear. The causes of hearing loss are different, and the types of hearing loss can be classified according to where the ear is damaged. There are generally three different types of hearing loss:

Conductive hearing loss is usually temporary and can sometimes be corrected. It develops from external or middle ear problems.
* In many cases, this type of hearing loss can be cured by ear wax removal, medication or surgery.

Sensorineural hearing loss is the most common type of hearing loss.
This type of hearing loss is caused by problems with the cochlea and auditory nerve, which can be treated with hearing aids or surgery

Mixed hearing loss is a kind of hearing loss that occurs simultaneously with conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss. In this case, in addition to using hearing aids, you must also be treated by ear wax removal, medication or surgery

But sometimes, hearing loss is a temporary phenomenon.
